Have you ever wondered if the day you worship truly matters? Many Christians assume Sunday is the Lord’s Day, but what if history and the Bible reveal a different truth? What if rediscovering the biblical Sabbath—Saturday—could bring you closer to Jesus and set you free in a way you never imagined?

The Liberating Truth About the Lord’s Day: What If Everything You Knew Was Wrong?

The Sabbath in the Bible: A Gift, Not a Burden

From the very beginning, God set aside the seventh day as holy:
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it…” (Genesis 2:2-3, KJV).
This was before sin entered the world—before there were Jews or any nation. The Sabbath wasn’t just for Israel; it was for all humanity. Jesus Himself kept the Sabbath (Luke 4:16), and He declared, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27, KJV).

What Happened? The Change of the Sabbath

If the Bible is so clear, why do most Christians worship on Sunday? The answer lies in history, not Scripture.
In the early centuries after Christ, Roman emperors and church leaders sought to unite pagans and Christians under one faith. In A.D. 321, Emperor Constantine issued a decree making Sunday—the day pagans worshiped the sun—a rest day. Later, the Roman Catholic Church openly claimed responsibility for changing the Sabbath, even stating:
“Sunday is our mark of authority… The Church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.” (The Catholic Record, Sept. 1, 1923).
But God’s commandments never changed (Matthew 5:18). The Sabbath remains the seventh day—Saturday.

Righteousness by Faith and the Commandments

Many say, “We’re saved by grace, not by keeping the Sabbath.” That is absolutely true! But Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15, KJV). Keeping the Sabbath is not about earning salvation but about walking in faith and love.
True freedom in Christ comes from obeying God’s perfect law, which protects us from deception and draws us closer to Him. When we choose His way over human traditions, we experience a deep, unshakable peace.

Experience True Freedom in Christ

The Sabbath is not bondage—it is a day of rest, joy, and communion with God. It reminds us that we are His, not slaves to the world’s system.
